We're looking for:

Hotel San Jose is looking for a Parking Attendant/Bell Person who will be responsible for a multitude of guest service related tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED). College Degree preferred
  • One (1) year related experience in the hospitality or service industry as a supervisor or manager
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or guests
  • Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Property Management System)
  • Ability to apply concepts of math including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Job Requirements:

  • Ensure each guest is promptly recognized, greeted and assisted, upon their arrival, during their stay and upon departure
  • Upon guest arrival, assist with luggage and escort guests to their rooms
  • Open vehicle doors and property doors for guests and employees
  • Handle guest luggage and tag for storage, if necessary
  • Explain the operation of room features such as locks, ventilation systems and televisions
  • Deliver messages and run errands for guests
  • Accurately log and follow up on all services provided (i.e. luggage, amenity deliveries, transportation, etc.)
  • Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property
  • Keep abreast of safety and OSHA requirements
  • Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures
  • Adhere to and ensure Guest Attendants follow all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and oral instruction
  • Assist in development and implementation of special projects
  • Ensure that all staff is delivering the highest standards of guest service
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the Property Management System (PMS)
  • Maintain constant communication with all departments to ensure guests’ needs are met
  • Implement, manage and assist in the timely completion of all projects
  • Promote and encourage guest name recognition at all times
  • Ensure immediate response is given to any and all guest comments and concerns and inform immediate supervisor about concerns and assist in implementing corrective measures when deemed necessary
  • Possess knowledge of all guest services and amenities
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area, and making sure parking lot always looks clean
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
  • Attend all relevant meetings

Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.


Working Conditions:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The person having this position may have to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis; anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift
  • The person having this position may have to sit for one (1) hour, stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day
